Carbon footprint

The largest portion of Reykjavik Energy’s carbon footprint can be attributed to the utilisation of geothermal energy since carbon dioxide is one of the gases emitted with the geothermal steam.

Reykjavik Energy's subsidiaries have been very successful at reducing their carbon footprint in recent years thanks to the sequestration of carbon dioxide in bedrock. Energy switching in Reykjavík Energy’s car fleet is also particularly important, as well as reducing waste, especially in production.

Every year Reykjavík Energy publishes a precise carbon footprint account for the Group.
