Standards and certification

Orkuveitan and its subsidiaries have implemented management systems in accordance with international standards and the requirements of the legislature. The effectiveness of the systems is regularly verified by audits by independent accredited bodies.

ISO 9001 - International quality management standard
The OR Group has implemented a quality management system that addresses all aspects of the Group's operations. The quality management system is certified by accredited auditors and its effectiveness is confirmed annually.

ISO 14001 – International Environmental Management Standard
The OR Group has implemented an environmental management system that addresses all aspects of the group's environmental issues. The system is certified by accredited auditors and its effectiveness is confirmed annually.

ISO 27001 - International Standard for Information Security Management

The OR Group has implemented a management system for information security that addresses all aspects of the Group's operations. The information security management system is certified by accredited auditors and its effectiveness is confirmed annually.

ISO 45001- International Standard for Health and Safety at Work
The OR Group has implemented a management system for health and safety at work that addresses all aspects of the Group's operations. The system is certified by accredited auditors and its effectiveness is confirmed annually.

HACCP/GÁMES – International Food Control System

Veitur, a subsidiary of OR, is the largest food production company in the country, where the drinking water production there and at Orka náttúrunnar is defined as food production. The systems are approved by the health inspectorates of the municipalities in question.

ÍST 85 - Icelandic standard for equal pay systems
The OR Group has introduced a statutory equal pay system that is certified by accredited auditors and its effectiveness is confirmed annually. OR is also authorized by the Jafnlaunastofa (Equal Pay Office) to use the Equal Pay Badge.

Electrical safety management system

Electrical safety management systems are statutory safety systems that all electric utilities must have to operate. There are two systems, one for Veitur and another for Orka náttúrunnar. The systems are certified by the Húsnæðis- og mannvirkjastofnun (The Housing and Construction Authority) and their function is confirmed annually by an accredited inspection body.

Internal utility meter monitoring system

The management system is a statutory management system for administering the certification of utility meters and is certified by Neytendastofa (Consumer Agency). The system ensures that utility meters meet the requirements and are subject to the metrological control provided for in laws, regulations, and the rules to which they refer. The functionality of the system is confirmed annually by an accredited inspection body.
